Ask The Expert: CBS-2052e20 & Coffee Basics
Shane!
My company just purchased a CBS-2052e20 Twin 2.0 Gallon Extractor Brewer for office that will be installed next week.
I just realized that:
1) I need to know how to operate this brewer!
2) What size/type filters do I use?
3) How much coffee do you put in for the different volume levels?
Please help!
Julie

Hello Julie,
First ,the operating instructions come with in the User’s Guide that comes with the brewer.
Next, your filter size is 15 x 5.5 and you can order these directly from us or typically through you coffee provider.
As far as how much coffee shouls you use; if you are purchasing your coffee from a Coffee Roaster, they would be able to help you. However, if you are on your own, then I can give you a general range, but it does depend on preference, in most cases.
The SCAA (Specialty Coffee Association of America) recommends 3.25 - 4.25 oz of coffee for every 64 oz of water. So with that said with you have a 2 gal brewer so that would be 256 oz of water which would mean you would need to use between 13 – 17 oz of coffee per 2 gal brew.
I hope this information is helpful and that you enjoy your new coffee brewer. If you need any further assistance please let me know.

My New 2052-e20 is being delivered next week. Can you tell me Shane, what is the max capacity of the 2050 series baskets?
I got the 36.9 amp version and am pretty stoked about it. I'm sure we'll be talking more!

First off, congratulations on your purchase of a CBS-2052e-20. You’re going to love it.
The recommended dose by the SCAA is 3.25-4.25oz of coffee for every 64 oz of water. So, that would mean that for a 2 gal brew we would need 13oz - 1lb 1oz of coffee. Therefore FETCO designed this basket to take up to 1lb 4oz of coffee but to be honest this is pushing it so I personally would not go past the 1lb 1oz recommended by the SCAA.
I hope this information was helpful and please do not hesitate to contact me with any further questions that you may have regarding your new CBS-2052e20.

I have a CBS 2052e Fetco and it is cascading water when we press the brew button - any ideas of why this is happening. It was completely cleaned last September. I also need the cascading spray dome replacement parts - the new magnetic one. Do you have this replacement part. We find that they fall off on occasion and end up in the compost bin. But it is still cascading water with the domes in place. Thanks Margie

Margie,
Thank you for your comment.
I am not sure I know what you mean when you say it is cascading water. Could you please elaborate?(Maybe pictures would help.)
The problem that you are having with CSD falling out probably has to do with the fact you have a retrofit plate (that is the black plastic part held in place by for screws to the spray housing) that has 4 magnets instead of 8. So I would recommend that you get the retrofit kit K080 and take out the old retrofit plate and install the new one. This will take care of your problem of loosing the CSD.
I hope this is helpful. In the mean time, I await your reply with regard to the cascading water.
