Ask The Expert: How do I clean an airpot?

QUESTION:

We are a cleaning company caring for a customer with six of the pictured coffee brewers. All new. Can you send me a link to the

cleaning instructions for the urns?  We're all good on the rest of the equip. Very hard well water. What should the customer do for

maintenance? If I don't keep an eye on them they will not be maintained beyond cleaning.

Thanks.

ANSWER:

Jim,

Glad to hear that you are being so proficient in your craft. This particular item is often over looked even by Coffee Shops believe it or not.

First off, for cleaning we do not have a procedure for these air pots.  We do not actually manufacture these.

However, we highly recommend a product called Tabz by Urnex  http://www.urnex.com/prod_tabz_home.html for cleaning dispensers and air pots such as these.

This is a product that is very simple to use. For every 64 oz , you need 1 tab. Since this container is 3L or 105.59 oz,  in this case to make it easy you use two Tabz. You line the dispenser up under the brewer drop 2 Tabz into the brew basket . Put the brew basket in place and press the large batch button for 2 seconds or until the brewer begins to brew.

Rinse the airpot and you are done. Now, if there is any build up of coffee oils inside the airpot, you can use an urn brush (Our p/n 74005) to help clean away any stuburn spots.

I hope this information is helpful and if you have any further question please feel free to ask.

Shane
