Kim,

This is a very subjective question because one has to take into account grind particle size, type of coffee, personal preferences on flavor profile and so on.

As a general rule of thumb the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) recommends 3.75-4.25 oz of coffee for every 64oz of water.

Therefore, with your particular coffee brewer (52H), the full batch would be 192oz which would make it 11.25 -12.75 oz of coffee.
Your half batch is going to be 92oz which would make it 5.60 - 6.40 oz of coffee.

If you test between these weights for each batch you should be able to find a flavor profile you are happy with.
