QUESTION:

Hi,I was wondering the most effective method to descale a CBS-2031e? The filter cartridge needed replacing a long time ago and my ignorance has cost me dearly. Would you suggest avoiding the use of solutions and just drain the machine and physically remove the scale? Or are there powders/ liquid solutions on the market that work well but do not inhibit the flavour of the water?

I am sorry to hear about your major dilemma.

To answer your question you would regret trying to remove the scale build up in your tank physically. There are a lot of products out there for remove scale from a coffee brewer but the best by far that I have seen is Dezcal by Urnex http://www.urnex.com/descaler.html it does a great job, is environmentally friendly, and will not negatively impact flavor. Just make sure that you follow directions carefully.

There are recommended amounts based on volume of tank to be treated; your 2031e has a 3 gallon tank.
