Ask The Expert Fields a Question on Collapsing Filters

QUESTION:

Hi Shane!

We use the CBS-2050e.  We are currently using 2 gal filters.  When we brew half batches the filter’s sidewall collapses causing grinds in our coffee. What is the solution?

Thanks!

Max

ANSWER:

Max,

This is a good question, and first I have a question for you. When you say you are using 2gal filters do you mean the filters are 15”x5”. To confirm this flatten a filter out and measure the outer diameter of the filter that should be 15”. Then measure the inner diameter (what would be the bottom of the filter) this should be 5”.
Now if this is the filter size you are using then I would have to say that you need what we call brew basket clips. They attach to the wire insert of the filter basket and help hold the filter up preventing it from collapsing. The part number for this is 09013 you need four per basket.
You can order these directly from our Customer Service Department @ 800-338-2699.
