Ask The Expert: Water Out of Faucet Is Slow
QUESTION:
Hi Shane,
I have a CBS 2051e. The water dispenser flow is very poor. It takes forever to fill a cup for tea/Americanos/etc...
Water pressure to the machine is good. Water filters were replaced 5 months ago (we replace every 6 months). What are the areas I should check? I am thinking something has to be restricting the flow somewhere.
Thanks,
Chris

ANSWER:
Chris,
If water is coming out of the faucet slowly on a 2051e there are a couple of potentials.
Water pressure to the brewer as it relates to the operation of the hot water faucet is irrelevant in this case. There is a tube inside the tank that sits about a 3”-4” below the level of water and connects to a bulkhead fitting about ¾ of the way down the tank this is the hot water tube. There is then a tube outside the tank that runs from the bulkhead fitting to the hot water valve. So then when you want to dispense hot water you push the hot water faucet button the hot water valve opens gravity then takes over and water flows though the hot water tube and out of the spigot.
Now I do not know how old your brewer is but depending on how long the brewer has been in service one problem could be the hot water valve itself it could be getting scaled up restricting the flow of water. Solution for this is replace the hot water valve.
The other possibility is that the hot water tube is scaling up and this is causing a restriction. Solution for this is to descale the tank using a descaling product. Urnex manufactures a really good product and so does Everpure. During the descaling process you would draw hot water through the hot water valve to make sure the descaling solution enters the tube. Follow descaling manufactures instructions for best results.
I hope that you found this helpful.
Shane
