Ask The Expert: can I convert a brewer from 220V to 110V?

QUESTION:

Hello Expert,

We recently bought a Fetco CBS-51H-10 coffee brewer that has  220V electrical connections.  Can we get parts to convert it to a 110 line or does this have to be manufactured this way?  Are there directions out there to convert from 220V to 110V?

If you could let us know what we're looking at I'd appreciate it.  Thanks,

Zach

ANSWER:

Zachary,

I wish I could tell you that converting this unit is simple and advised however I am very sorry to say this is not the case.

This unit is UL rated as a 220V machine. This major modification would void the UL affectively make this brewer a safety risk. It would be better to supply 220V to the location where the brewer is going to be installed.

Sorry I know this is not he answer you were looking for but it is the one I must give.
